Myositis Support and Understanding (MSU), an all-volunteer patient-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization once again participated in the TMA Annual Patient Conference as a sponsor, this year in Minneapolis, MN. As in years past, our sponsorship included an exhibit table where we share who we are and the work we do. This year we placed a large focus on our #MyositisLIFE program and website (the site you are on now!), which was launched in May 2019; a platform designed specifically for giving a voice to myositis patients and caregivers. We also provided myositis education sheets, some free MSU swag such as wristbands and pens, NeedyMeds drug discount cards, and information about some of our partners. Our #MyositisWarrior and #MyositisLIFE t-shirts were big sellers as well! It was such an honor to meet so many of you who attended.
Check out some of the photos we captured during the conference, including some with our members, newly diagnosed patients, our wonderful caregivers, TMA staff, and some of our sponsors and partners that also attended.
Mary Jane DeLauder Memorial Fund, 2019 Award
Since Mary Jane DeLauder’s (MJ) passing in June of this year, we continue to miss her and her spirit of passionately helping and educating those living with sporadic inclusion body myositis (sIBM) in our support groups and beyond. However, her legacy lives on thanks to her husband, Dick DeLauder and Myositis Support and Understanding (MSU), with the help and support of The Myositis Association (TMA), by forming the Mary Jane DeLauder Memorial Fund.
We granted the first annual Mary Jane DeLauder Memorial Fund award this year, which provides sIBM patients and their caregiver an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the 2019 TMA Annual Patient Conference. Learn more.
